N2 - “Student Voice” is a pedagogic movement created in the nineties in some English speaking countries (United States, Canada, England and Australia) which supports students active participation and responsibility in the training processes at both school and university. In order to include the students voices in these processes, adults (teachers and administrators) must recognize their rights to be heard and respected as people with interests, with learning needs and ideas. Their voices can solve school teaching and university education problems, as well as educational research and cultural policies in which decisions that may affect them have to be made. Different forms of student participation in these processes are presented in this study: according to their age, educational level, personal maturity and skills. The research starts by showing six educational studies carried out in six countries from the five continents (Spain, Ghana, New South Wales, United Arab Emirates, Mexico and Illinois), and two Italian studies inspired by “Student Voice”. These studies show how the students role at school and university can change thanks to an authentically inclusive and democratic educational approach. At the same time, this work includes some risks derived from consulting studentsn and promoting student participation in the training and research processes.
