Abstract

Violence, frustration, vanity. The pessimistic vision of Leonardo da Vinci in the «Bestiary» and in the «Fables» · Leonardo da Vinci’s «Bestiary» and «Fables» often show a vision of reality and relationships between individuals (here symbolized by animals and plants) characterized by an overwhelming violence: this often produces a sense of frustration (or powerlessness) in the victims, leading the author to a conclusion full of pessimism, glumness and unescapable vanity.
