Abstract
The scholastic inclusion of non-Italian students theme is particularly felt by Italian public opinion today following the consistency of the immigration phenomenon. The children of immigrant workers must not be assimilated or marginalized, but must be helped to form their own cultural identity. Some pedagogical guidelines are provided for teachers to foster the inclusion of foreign children and the development of a genuine intercultural mentality in all pupils. To this end, intercultural competences are proposed: those competences teachers should acquire to ensure that all pupils internalize the fundamental values for the construction of a peaceful and collaborative coexistence.
