Abstract
Background. Labia minora hypertrophy isa congenital or acquired condition in whichboth labia minora (or more rarely only one)protrude beyond the edge of the labia majora. The authors present a surgical techniqueof volumetric reduction of hypertrophiclabia minora, associated with lipofilling ofthe labia majora.Methods. Between 2005 and 2014, 27 patients underwent surgical reduction of labiaminora, as described by Altier and Rouzier. The indications for surgical treatment varied and were as follows: interference withsexual intercourse; poor hygiene; difficultywearing tight-fitting pants; difficulty while performing sporting activities such ascycling; aesthetic complaints. The surgicalresection was associated with fat graft injection in labia majora in order to protectand cover the labia minora. The mean followup was 1 year.Results. The labia majora, increased involume and firmness, cover and protectthe labia minora slightly hypertrophic orsurgically reduced. All patients reported animprovement in comfort, aesthetic appearance, when wearing close-fitting clothesand an improvement in their sexuality. Inone case we recorded a “recurrence”, withan increase of dimensions in width of labiaminora, still lower than the preoperativesituation but greater than the immediatepostop.Conclusions. The reduction of labia minorahypertrophy with conservative techniquesallows achieving excellent results in termsof aesthetics and functionality. The simplelipofilling of labia majora allows preservingand protecting the labia minora througha volumetric increase of the labia majora.
