This study aims to analyse the character of the husband in Vivant Denon’s short novel "Point de lendemain". In order to do this, it takes in consideration two fundamental concepts: the substitution of the body, which in the novel is realized through a cabinet of delights, and the marital discourse issued from the literary tradition and from Rousseau in particular.
