Abstract
Certainly the current state of the teaching of the Restoration of Monuments in the universities in Italy, it is also the result of the debate involving teachers in the area, in the period between 1975 and the end of the twentieth century.The essay explores the fruitful debate that developed in those years, thanks largely to the efforts of Roberto di Stefano. The learned, in fact, contributed so effectively to the promotion of regular meetings and content to be assigned to the discipline Restoration of Monuments and for the development of the training of the operators of the preservation of cultural heritage, in particular architectural and environmental Italy. Important is also the development of dialogue, considered essential by Di Stefano, with operators from Europe and other continents in general, to search for consensual solutions for protection and conservation respectful of different cultures.
