This article explains the theoretical foundations of the group-analysis approach, its main Italian developments, and its link with the technique. In particular, after showing the hesitations of the original English model, illustrates the Italian approach (Subjectual Group-analysis), its evolution and its dialogue with the disciplines (complexity theory, cultural anthropology) that contributed to the foundation of his apparatus meta-psychological.Subsequently, it focuses on the self relational foundation, on the therapeutic aspects linked to it, highlighting the key aspects of the group-analytic functioning and the therapist’s responsibility and the patient’s difficulty.
