Solitary necrotic nodule of the liver: different pathological findings express a different histogenesis

Risultato della ricerca: Articlepeer review

Abstract

Solitary necrotic nodule of the liver is a rare benign lesion the histogenesis of which isstill debated. We here report the case of a patient who underwent laparoscopiccholecystectomy for gallstones and who was accidentally found to have a solitarynecrotic nodule of 2 cm in the fifth segment of the liver. On the basis of the histologicalfindings, the hypothesis that different pathogenetic mechanisms could be involved inthe histogenesis of this lesion is discussed.
