In a world of constant and diverse change, the ability to be creative, resourceful, understanding and reflective is significantly important both to successfully continue to progress and to respond to challenges in everyday life. In the context of national growth, developing the potential of individuals and equalising opportunities could be achieved only through effective education programs which contributes to soft skills development from the very beginning of school years. The development of cognitive and affective aspects as well as the values of character education are absolute necessities in learning and with no doubt teachers play such a significant role in responding to these necessities. This paper will investigate the nature of the skills, consider some implications and barriers and then demonstrate connections between the nature of affective practice, character education and soft skills. The study also aims to examine the importance of soft skills development of teachers and teacher candidates for a much better affective teaching practice which can lead them to combine harmoniously theory and practice in their teaching.
