Abstract

Solar radiation is an inexhaustible source of energy. Recently the spread of active systems (solar panels, etc.) have invaded the building market. In addition to these, however, it is possible to realize valid passive alternatives for energy saving. Nowadays the changed requirements about the evolution of the concept of environmental wellness require a new agreement between the experiences about the construction tradition, the complexities of the technological organization and the necessity of the users. The greenhouse is a complex architectural element that allows both heating in winter and cooling in summer. The design of integrated glazed systems with the building enclosure allows, at the same time, the control and modulation of the light, visibility and temperature in order to obtain an improvement of internal comfort and also to the get economic and formal aspect advantages. The following document will show the results of a study conducted on the advantages obtainable from the use of the solar greenhouse in summer, considered a critical season.
