Abstract
This article aims to analyse critically the so-called “new realism” and to evaluate its pedagogicaland educational consequences. By examining the objections made by this philosophy to the postmodernistculture, the author agrees on some aspects of its theory of knowledge. On the other hand, the article highlights the lack of adequate anthropology and possible consequences of the “newrealism” on educational thought and practice. The proposal of an ontology of the person wellestablishedin the tradition of phenomenological realism is seen as dialectics of the “new realism”.
