Abstract
This study analyses Giacomo Meyerbeer's influence on Italian Opera and, consequently, on Italian orchestras. The first part looks at Meyerbeer's reception in Italy and describes his impact on the system of opera production there; the second part discusses the subsequent effects on opera-houses orchestras, referring to specific examples.
