Guidance, in the sense of the subject's ability to self-direct him/herself through study and work throughout the course of his/her life, implies the necessity to develop a set of strategic skills that appear to be fundamental to successfully face the complex framework of transformations which invest the world of work and training. The contribution faces the importance of self-regulation skills in guidance processes and presents two methodologies (ALM and ADVP) to expand and improve the usability of tools useful to encourage, in students of upper secondary school, the self-assessment of some skills that lie at the basis of the ability to direct themselves through study and work.
