Abstract
In this paper we introduce the results of a research that involved 235 students of the Degree in Primary Education at the University of Palermo. The research was intended to identify the methodologies of support aimed at developing, from one side, the ability to identify and face properly problems in school situations, and, from the other one, the capacity to consider the metacognitive side of the troubleshooting process in futureteachers. The research is an example of how to develop in future teachers a set of cognitive and metacognitive skills leading to ability on identifying and solving complex educational situations.
