N2 - The essay reconstructs the role of Benvenuto Graffeo, baron of Partanna, and of his brother Giorgio, baron of Adragna, in a complex period of Sicilian history characterized by the Angevin-Aragonese conflict and the interests of the Crown of Aragon on the island. Councilors and supporters of the Crown, their history can be assimilated to that of other nobles who in the fourteenth century exercised the activity of pirates and privateers in the Mediterranean. The discovery of unpublished documents made it possible to clarify some doubts and provide new elements for the history of the family.
