Abstract

Enriched Sport Activities Program (ESA) is anEvidence-based Practice Exercise Programcofounded by the Erasmus+ Programme of theEuropean Union (Key action:Sport - 579661-EPP1-2016-2-IT-SPO-SCP).It aims to enhance socialinclusion, equal opportunities and psycho-physicalwell being in school-age children with typicaldevelopment and special needs trough sport activitiesenriched by cognitive tasks. A multidisciplinaryapproach has been employed; in detail, health - andskills-related physical fitness components, as wellas developmental psychology and neuroscienceresearch are the theoretical basis to implement anevidence-based program suitable to increase sportcompliance in 7 different countries. A growingbody of studies has identified sport and physicalactivities (PA) as key factors to contribute to wellbeingand health in children and youths with typicaland atypical development.
