Ancient city views, maps, images, as well as descriptions written by local intellectuals and travel diaries are valuable sources to reconstruct the urban historical identity: they allow not only the recovery of a territory, but they also offer themselves as “freeze – frame” where it is possible to read its stratifications. So, the use of transparent silk screened panels along historical – architectural itineraries represents an opportunity to illustrate the stratifications. This article focuses on the way the panels can contribute to create functional places, proposing a contemporary city, joint with its history.
