Just a few lines, to tell the principle that led this brief collection of reflections on color. The topic is so vast that I have limited the choice only to those areas that, by definition, are very close to the topic. I chose thoughts based on simplicity of expression and their evocative power. The selection was very strict, and so more than half of the collected material will remain only in the computer's memory. I tried to move in time, capturing thoughts capable of telling the different philosophies and attitudes that have marked the history of color: from Lucretius, who considered it other than matter, changeable and totally dependent on light, without which it could not exist ; to the current conception, in which color has conquered a predominant position in the creative process, substantiating and enhancing formal relationships, passing through a series of intermediate positions, in explaining the evolution of thought. I hope so to have traced a path which has the only ambition to give suggestions, able to make us reflect on the importance of color
