Coconut fibre insulators, represent an insulatingmaterial considered as “exotic”, which clashes with the doubtsof his thermo-hygrometric behavior, in particular, in the caseof covering technology such as green roofs, a technologicalsolution adopted in the case of sustainable buildings or nearlyzero energy building. Green roofs represent a validconstructive solution with high thermal performances, adoptedin existing and new buildings. The purpose of the researchregards the study of the thermo-hygrometric behavior of theconcrete and Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) slabs, insulatedwith coconut fibre-boards (CF) such as alternative syntheticinsulators, referred to 10 different green roofs scenarios. Theresults show that coconut fibre insulations are equallycomparable to natural and synthetic materials, and theirdoubts for their applications, also in the green roofs, arerelated to technological solutions for the implementation in themarket and their diffusion between the buildings materials.
