The research aims to analyze the ceremonial through the case study of fashion as an instrument of representation of the social status of the members of the Palermitan nobility of the seventeenth century. Fashion has been used over the centuries to represent power as an expression of nobility and its allocation to society. Clothes reveal as much about a society as it is about the structure of the different identities and communities it encompasses (Gaulme and Gaulme, 2016). Clothing, which in some circumstances is closely linked to the rules imposed by the ceremonial, is an indispensable means of following the life of a complex social framework that involved personalities of the titled aristocracy and minor nobility, urban patrician and local oligarchies.
