Abstract

The Mediterranean is certainly an accomplished and defined geographic area that, more than any other, has seen the birth, develop and evolve of the civilizations able to mark the history of Man. As a point of comparison between East and West, the identity and recognizability of the Mediterranean myth lies precisely in the multiplicity and diversity of the cultures and peoples that overlook in the "basin". The paper identifies some of the aspects through which it’s possible to read the influence of the Mediterranean myth in contemporary architecture. These aspects must be understood as a monumentum interpreted according to value of the latin term monere, of remembering the inexhaustible conceptualization of mythos whose actuality exactly lies in the continuous regeneration of the thematic arguments connected to them.
