In this chapter an introduction to mass spectrometry will be given, with particular referenceto mass spectrometry coupled to chromatography systems. Further some massspectrometry applications in the field of cultural heritage will be briefly reported anddiscussed. Finally a experimental investigation on the content of an ancient jar will bereported. Together with experimental details a description of the techniques adopted,results obtained and forthcoming experiments will be also given.
