This article aims to apply the theoretical tools of Lacanian psychoanalysis to the study of the self-fictional novel. On the one hand, it is a matter of making a reading of the novel "L'étreinte" by Philippe Vilain at the level of the signifier; for another, to grasp the implications of the Symbolic in various novels by Moroccan homosexual writer Rachid O. The article also intends to formulate a reflection on the value of literary criticism for Jacques Lacan and on how such criticism should be conceived in the logic of the post-Oedipus.
