Abstract
The statistical skills of Italian graduates in the labor market test · This paper analysesthe difference in placement output between graduates in Statistics and others. In particular wefocus our attention on the difference in socio-economic and labour market characteristics ofgraduates having specific skills in method and approach in Statistics, and graduates who duringtheir university courses studied Statistics (almost 10% of hours of their subjects). Data aredriven from The AlmaLaurea Graduates’ Employment Status, monitoring of graduates’ accessto the labour market within 1 year and 5 years after graduation. It is a very important tool forevaluating the effectiveness of the academic system and for assessing the attitude of the labourmarket towards graduates. The analysis shows that the graduates in Statistics have better resultsin terms of placement, income, and are less affected by mismatch than the others graudates.
