Risultato della ricerca: Chapter

Abstract

"Going down, on the right there is a cave or sirocco room with a fountain in the middle ad a set of Valenza bricks and above a work of cricchiole with different animals throwing water down". These words from a notary deed dated 1691 make reference for the first time to the so called "sirocco room", peculiar example of a passive refreshment archetype and part of an invaluable patrimony, heritage of centuries of history and of the many populations that have made Palermo a city of culture and art. Hypogeum structures which, together with other masterpieces of engineering in the underground of Palermo, witness the potentialities of the human intelligence, able to individuate and use natural resources in order to improve life conditions without altering environmental balances.
