L’alba in forma di romanza: sul tipo strofico e musicale di 'Reis glorios' (BdT 242,64)

Risultato della ricerca: Article

Abstract

The famous Old Provençal dawn-song attributed by some songbooks to Giraut de Borneil has recently been at the center of a number of contributions (concurrently with the discovery of an ancient Italian translation of the poem itself) which seek to better define the stemma codicum, the critical text and its interpretation. This contribution discusses the formal aspects of Reis glorios with regard to the entire manuscript tradition and aims to identify in its metric and musical type the so-called Romanzenstrophe. Such strophic and musical form characterizes in particular the Old French corpus of chansons de toile with which the Provençal dawn-song also shares some relevant stylistic and rhetorical features. This formal acknowledgement may have implications for the interpretative issue, too.
