L'accessibilità della città storica: aspetti gestionali tra specificità e strategie unitarie

Abstract

Overcoming the notion of historical centre requires an afterthought on consolidated positions during the past decades, from the verification of the same ideas of centrality and historicity. The parts of the city that have acquired a historical and cultural value are not constrained by precise physical or dating boundaries: this makes necessary an appropriate approach capable to take into account their specificities, within a broader framework of management that involves the whole built environment and that is oriented toward realistic and long-term-oriented strategies, in which the instance of the preservation of the historical parts can be more effective. Reading the contemporary city as a complex phenomenon, there are some key issues, that unite all its component parts regardless of the characterizations, and which are based on quality, read at both building and urban scale. Between these, the need for accessibility will be further explained, the satisfaction of which (often ignored even in the settlements without cultural value) contributes significantly to the objectives of development within a perspective for a sustainable society.
