The work songs of Sicilian gypsum miners have never been documented in ethnographic literature. There were only a few audio recordings made between 1954 and 1988. The text analyzes all available sources, reviewed through the research experience directly conducted by the author, who in 1993 films for the first time the action of the gypsum miners rhythmed by singing. Thanks to video it was possible to understand the exact relationship between singing and ergological dynamics.
