Risultato della ricerca: Chapter

The future architects of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris were advised to study classical architecture, a subject which they perfected in Italy in direct contact with the monuments and archaeological sites. This was thanks to the “Grand Prix”, which provided them with residence at the Academy of France in Rome. Many of them arrived in Sicily in the early 19 various aspects of the landscape in the wake of famous travelers such Dufourny, Hittorff and Schinkel. Guillaume-Abel Blouet, Pierre-Joseph Garrez, Jean-Jacques Clerget, Louis- Clémentin Bruyerre, among others, lingered at length among the classical ruins, surveying and redrawing many monuments, including the Tomb of Theron in the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Beginning with a comparative analysis of the different drawings by students, the paper attempts to understand the harmonies and discrepancies between historical methods of representation
