La sicurezza dello Stato in Iran

The essay has examined the policy on the national security in Iran. It has remarked the complexity of the decisional process regarding the national security and the relation between the different power centers, with an overview also to the informal structures of power. It analyses the different agencies which have had an important role in the Iranian history: the National Intelligence and Security Organization (Savak), the Agency for Intelligence and National Security (Savak), the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp, the Basij, the Ministry of Information and Security and the Supreme Council for National Security. It has distinguished the relation between these agencies and the regular army and how they have developed during time. It has, in addition, considered some problematic issues given by the nuclear program.
