Abstract
The author, taking the cue from a recent book by Massimiliano Boni and from an article published in the Giornale d’Italia (April, 30th, 1915), recon- structs the story of the tormented “race” of Lodovico Mortara for the presi- dency of the Roman Cassation. He also reconstructs certain aspects of the per- sonality of Mortara and other magistrates involved, by taking into account the various hypotheses about the possible authorship of the aforementioned arti- cle.
