Abstract

Some specific characteristics of the professional awareness of the teacher are highlighted as a form of meta-competence of both strategic and tactical nature, referring to knowing how to manage oneself in the context of training and self-training processes connected with the acquisition of new skills and / or with the further development of skills already present, in view of their transfer to new contexts. The professional awareness of a group of 744 Sicilian teachers of first and second grade secondary schools, starting from the use of two metacognitive self-assessment tools (the ALM Questionnaire and the MAI Questionnaire) and an instrument of self-assessment of resilience, the RPQ Questionnaire. After the presentation of the results obtained by the teachers, we examine the outcomes of 8 focus groups made, for confirmatory purposes, with 40 in-service teachers chosen based on the highest scores achieved in the three questionnaires.
