Abstract
The analysis of a recent historical-epigraphical monograph on Chalketor of Caria (2014) by Thibaut Boulay and Anne-Valérie Pont, and of an essay on the landowners of Iasos (2016) by Pont, offers the chance of discussing some points regarding the chora of Iasos (Caria, Anatolia) and the assignment of the village of Chalketor to this territory, the ascription of Iasos to the juridical districts (conventus, dioikeseis) of Mylasa and later of Alabanda within province Asia, the political, social and economic role of the civic élite of Iasos and the promotion of some prominent citizens into the senatorial class.
