This work presents the adopted methodology andthe realized tools for data visualization in the Linguistic AtlasOf Sicily (ALS) Project. The ALS Project has the purposeto discovery new trends and variables to track the linguisticevolution over time and space in Sicily. The project is focusedon how linguistic variables are related to social and economicaspects of the evolution of population and vice-versa. Thevisualization tools are a relevant aspect of the project tosupport decisions and disseminate results. One of the majorfactors is the geographic dependence of data evolution. Tothis aim complex set of tools has been developed: some toolsare stand-alone while others are collaborative and web-based.This work presents the interconnection between these tools. We explore the principal phases of the “GIScience” processwith the purpose to obtain valid and useful results for theresearchers involved in the project.
