Abstract
The essay aims to reconstruct the history of Santa Maria delle Giummare of Sciacca in late Middle Ages and to clarify the question of the double monastery founded as a Cluniac priory by Judith, sister of Roger II. The investigation of the parchments of the monastery and the study of the archival documents of Palermo and Sciacca allow to study the history of the Benedectine convent and the relationships with the nuns of Santa Maria di Valverde of Caltabellotta who lived in Santa Maria delle Giummare from 1401 by order of Pope Bonifacio IX.
