Abstract
The essay investigates the monumental complex of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, in Palermo, which constitutes one of the oldest cloistered monasteries in the city. The contribution is the result of research conducted by Renata Prescia and Rosario Scaduto and presented in the catalog of the exhibition the Sacra et Precious Orificeria from the monasteries of Palermo capital, held in the Monastery of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria in Palermo, 28.12.2018-31.05.2019. Thanks to the agreement signed by the Department of Architecture and the Superintendency for Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Palermo, it was possible to make a detailed survey of the state of conservation of the monument and to present plans for its conservation. The collaboration offered by the students of the Laboratory of Restoration and Theory and History of Restoration (of the Degree Course in Architecture of the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo) of the professors R. Prescia and R. Scaduto was fundamental in the research.
