The text deals with the study of an early work by Giuseppe Damiani Almeyda (1834-1911), a prominent figure of the architectural landscape in Sicily between the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth century. The project of the Grand Café, winner of prestigious awards, although realized when Damiani was not yet thirty years old, is very mature and marks an important milestone in the architect's training. In this project are recalls of Politeama theater, building to which his name is associated, and a great educational work, the Italian School of Civil Architecture, which, unfortunately, was never published. The original drawings in pencil, ink and watercolor on paper, are kept in Giuseppe Damiani Almeyda Archive in Palermo. Of extraordinary craftsmanship, they have allowed, in addition to an analytical study of the project, the three-dimensional reconstruction, which has produced fascinating perspective views of spaces only imagined by the young Damiani.
