Abstract

Toxic coma is an extremely severe clinic situation. It is rare, but involves several toxic substances and causes different p roblems concerning the treatment related. Among these sub - stances there are exterioganophosphorics, metals, ethylen gly - cole, carbon monoxide, etc. First of all the teraphy must control the patient’s cardiac vascular, respiratory and renal parameters. After that we need to carry on a careful anamnesis and an analysis aimed at fin - ding the toxic substance. It is really important to know the pharmacokinetics and the distribution volume, the modulation of the acid-base balance, as for example in case of barbiturates and the ractivity of the patient to the toxic element. The treatment must be multi disciplinar and it has to integrate and compleate the experience of the resuscitator and the toxicologist. We have to underline the environmental pre - vention as well, particularly focusing on high risk jobplaces.
