The paper presents the first results of a wider research of bridges in Sicily, aimed at inventorying of iconographic material relating to structures built or planned and never built in Sicily between the eighteenth and nineteenth century. The architectural drawings preserved in the public archives of the Island, used to verify knowledge, techniques and prerogatives of professionals called upon to create or restructure the bridges. Even with the differences, these iconography are united by the wealth of information included, through which not only had to provide a final image of the work but also ensure the necessary constructive informations, concentrating in a single drawing the design of the bridge and the details.
