Abstract

A new tren-based starburst molecule containing fluorinated1,2,4-oxadiazoles as fluorophores has been synthesized andits sensing behavior toward several metal cations has beeninvestigated by UV/Vis, fluorescence, 1H NMR and 19F NMR spectroscopy. Selective sensing for Hg2+ ions through a PETbasedmechanism was evidenced, suggesting application asfluorescent sensor for Hg2+ of the off-on type.
