Abstract
Deep down at the base of Italy, is an oft neglected region, its toe dipping into and dividing the waters of two seas, it is ebbed away by the water that passes along its rocky coasts. A land so narrow that from some of its hilltop towns it seems like a peninsula, giving the illusion of standing on the prow of a boat at the centre of stretches of salty waves while the choppy sea beats against its sides. A slim tip of land that trembles with effects of the mini quakes below its surface, yet it is strong, resilient and flexible like its native broom plants. A land which many forget even exists and might even live without.
