Abstract
The matter that lies beneath the smoothand shining surface of stuccoes of the Serpottafamily, who used to work in Sicily from 1670 to1730, has been thoroughly studied in previouspapers, disclosing the deep, even if empirical, knowledge of materials science that guided theartists in creating their masterworks. In this work the attention is focused on the solidperspective and on the scenographic sculpture byGiacomo Serpotta, who is acknowledged as theleading exponent of the School. The study dealswith some particular works of the artist, theso-called “teatrini” (Toy Theater), made by him forthe San Lorenzo Oratory in Palermo. On the basisof archive documents and previous analogicalphotogrammetric plotting, integrated with digitalsolutions and methodologies of computer-basedtechnologies, the study investigates and interpretsthe geometric-formal genesis of the examinedworks of art, until the prototyping of the wholescenic apparatus.
