In this issue of the British Journal of Nutrition, Breen et al.present a well-written and comprehensive study examiningnutrition knowledge among a sample of persons with type 2diabetes using a validated instrument, food label use and weightsatisfaction. The authors explore the relationship betweenthis knowledge and nutrient intake. Although the need ofincluding education on dietary and other lifestyle-relateddeterminants of type 2 diabetes is currently evident andrecommended in major guidelines, there is startling scarcityin the literature on this subject.
