For many years design has been elaborating and establishing theories and practices around cultural heritage issues. Above all this discipline highlighted and explored the huge potential of cultural heritage as a resource which is particularly diffused over the national territory and is becoming more and more central in territory development. Moreover, cultural heritage must be considered as a sustainable and renewable good, as it enables awareness and processes of knowledge growth, which are usable, yet not merely consumable.Nowadays, in an era of global crisis, besides the subjects of valorisation and communication, design must reflect upon the new values that cultural heritage can activate, in order to offer to society modes of opposing and of effectively resolving the effects of the crisis.
