The book originates from the intention of developing a "proactive" consideration about the relationship between design, cultural assets and productions, aiming to document both the aspects related to the promotion and communication of heritage, and the experiences of creative elaboration regarding the various practices and resources generated by these specific assets, up to the development of new forms of service design for innovation and social participation.The aim has been to investigate some experiences that go beyond the established fields of work and commitment of the designer. Particularly, nowadays new forms of entrepreneurship and cultural fruition lead design to face issues that end up in the definition of strategies for the activation, within the society, of transformation processes which are open and oriented towards sustainability and participation.The suggested path goes from design for cultural productions to the cultural dimension of design, in a reflection that may allow to introduce the "cultural dimension" of the project as a paradigm to interpret the dynamics of the crisis and imagine actual possibilities to face it.
