The BAC factors method was introduced by theinternational Standard EN 15232 for a rough evaluation of energysavings in buildings obtained thanks to automation. The abovestandard considers the building’s services such as heating, cooling,ventilation and lighting and takes into account automation on thebasis of assumed usage profile for the related technicalinstallations. However, the standard does not refer specifically tothe automation of outdoor lighting systems such as those servinggardens, entrance walkways and passages around the building andsupplied by it. In this paper, the authors propose a method forevaluation an outdoor BAC factor for lighting system consideringvarious scenarios. The method can be seen as a possible extensionof the one proposed by EN 15232 and can be used with the samepurposes.
