Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyse to what extent the Shiite jurisprudence has influenced the Iranian constitutional system. This study will provide an outline of the evolution of the form of government from the constitutional experience of 1906-1907 to the 1989 reform of the current constitution. In addition, the different roles played by the religious law in the Iranian government and the limitation of government action will be studied.
