Abstract
The study of culture is a hermeneutic practice and it is built through critical reflection on itself and the continuous crisis of itself. This book introduces the reader to the exercise of a mentality, a critical habitus and an attitude to research that are essential elements for the development of humanities. The book evaluates the models of criticism proposed by traditions that descend from the science of culture in Germany and from international cultural studies, paying particular attention to cultural studies in Italy as they have been interpreted by Antonio Gramsci, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Ernesto De Martino.
