Abstract

Leishmaniasis and rickettsial diseases are endemic and commonin Mediterranean countries and so, as in humans, thesediseases could be an important cause of HLH in dogs and mayrespond to similar medications. In conclusion, we think that thediagnosis of HLH should be considered in dogs with pancytopeniaand, in selected cases, immunosuppressive treatment mightbe warranted.
