Abstract
The essay focuses on a list of architectures that preserve and sometimes flaunt parts of previous buildings, destined for demolition.This text explore different motivations and practices that can justify them preservation. Even if the randomness of the events directstowards responses that take into account unexpected economic difficulties, a persistent scepticism towards harmony andcompleteness emerges in many histories, as well as intriguing symbolic components.
